We made it through Monday, guys! I'm not going to lie, after being out sick last week for over 2 days and then having the weekend, it was tough to get back into the groove of things yesterday. Luckily, I made it without any bumps in the road and I ended Monday night with a nice little lounge session on the couch full of cuddles and more trash reality television than I'm willing to admit. Anyone else record everything and then binge it all at once?! I'm guilty.
Call me crazy, but I recently decided to give up (almost completely) drinking so much caffeine, and I will say, it's been harder than it sounds. For a coffee drinker like me, this came along with cravings, grogginess and a pretty painful headache. I've gone just about a week and I'm starting to feel a little better. And I still treat myself to a cup from Starbucks every now and then, so that helps. I decided to do this because I was becoming truly dependent on caffeine to get me through the day. I woke up, had a giant cup. Got to the office, had another. Then one more after lunch and even sometimes when I got home from work. It was getting a little ridiculous and I was getting to the point where I couldn't really function without it. So, I decided to go cold turkey on the caffeine. Before I stopped drinking coffee, I was obsessing over Americanos with almond milk and cinnamon dulce syrup (thanks to my bestie!), so my go-to order is now a decaf with almond milk and cinnamon dulce syrup - not bad and has at least 10x less the caffeine.
So I know it used to be a rule that "you can't wear black and brown together", and my husband still abides by that rule, but this is another one of my favorite rules to break. (Wearing white in winter is another favorite - which you can see how I styled HERE and HERE). If you've been following along for a while, you know I adore my neutrals, and black and brown is such an easy way to mix your neutrals and textures! I love pairing an all black outfit with a pop of brown, as I did with this look, or vice versa. I do like to make sure I balance the look out, though. For example, I'm wearing all black here, and I chose to wear my thigh high boots, which are brown. So I added a scarf (similar here), which incorporates brown and black, to balance out the look. If my shoes are one color, I like to add a piece like statement earrings, a watch or necklace or a scarf so that it balances out. I know not everyone cares about this, but it's something that makes me feel more put together overall.
I have worn these boots nonstop since the day they showed up on my doorstep. I love them! I'm sure you've heard me rant about them previously, so I'll just let them speak for themselves and talk sizing. I'm normally a size 7.5 or 8 in shoes, and I ordered a size 38. (PS- they are currently 30% off with code: CLASSIC)!
And as always, you can use code MEGANKRISTINE15 for $15 off your watch or sunglass purchase at MVMT.com! I just got some new goodies in the mail today so stay tuned for those! ;)
