This past year, we had more blessings than I could even begin to count. From so many of our friends and family getting married, to our own engagement/wedding celebrations, the amount of love around us was undeniable. I attended more weddings, showers and bachelorette parties than ever before, and I can't wait to see what the future holds for all the beautiful people in my life. This year was also the year that I finally decided to start my blog, something that I've thought about and wanted to do for quite some time. Overall, it was an amazing year and I wouldn't have changed anything about it. I laughed, cried, loved, learned, failed, succeeded, and grew.. all for the better. There were so many special moments in 2016, but I wanted to share a quick recap of my top 5 favorite moments.
Launch of my Blog: May
I started my blog months and months before May 2016, but it takes guts to put yourself out there and make it live! I'm sure Carl Michael was so annoyed with me, because I kept saying "Okay, next weekend I'm going to do it.. I'm going to launch my blog!" and then the next week would come and he would ask me about it and I would chicken out. That happened so many times until I finally just decided to go for it, and it has been so much fun ever since! It's a great outlet for me to do something I love outside of my 9-5 job every day. I got my degree from Texas A&M in Communications and Journalism, but my current job does not necessarily relate to what I majored in. I truly enjoy writing, so blogging has been a great experience so far.
Bachelorette Party: September
My sister and lovely girlfriends threw my bachelorette party in Dallas this past September and it was such a great time! It was so amazing to have all my favorite girls (minus a few) in one place for the whole weekend. I loved every second of it and it made me feel so loved! You can see a whole post about my bachelorette weekend here.
Getting Married: October
I can't even put into words how perfect our wedding day was to us. There is no greater feeling than being surrounded by the ones you love and those who support you. Our wedding day was, by far, my favorite day from 2016, and I can't wait to see where life takes us.
Gaining a New Roomie: October
Moving in together was special to us. Carl Michael and I both had our own houses, and deciding which one we wanted to keep was a topic of discussion for quite a few months. In the end, we decided it was best to move into my little 1,000 square foot house, and it's been so fun (and chaotic) to get settled in.. (which we are still in the process of doing 2 months later - ha!). My house is a fixer-upper, so the projects and to-do lists are never ending, but my sweet husband has been such a trooper! Him and my dad are currently working on building a new laundry room and redoing the garage, and it is going to be so amazing once it's complete. We got a new Samsung washer and dryer and I can hardly wait to use it. You know you're getting old when you can't wait to do laundry! This whole process has kept life exciting, and it doesn't hurt when your roomie is as cute as my hubby ;)
Baby Sister Got Engaged: December
Y'all - My baby sister is engaged! I still can't believe it. Her sweet fiancé got down on one knee on New Years Eve in Fredericksburg and popped the big question. My sister ugly cried and I loved it. (I wasn't there but the pictures were proof) What a great way to end 2016, right?! Her ring is b-e-a-utiful! She came home this past weekend, so we got to talk all things wedding and we even booked her venue! Call me crazy, but I have honestly missed wedding planning the last couple of months. I truly enjoyed the whole process and though at times it was stressful, it was all worth it to see our big day come together. Now that my sister is engaged, I can't wait to help her plan her big day! (My poor dad.. hehe)
